Bimini Yacht Charter from Miami
The nearest Bahamas island to Miami, by yacht for a few days or by seaplane for the day.
Bimini sits about 50 nautical miles from Miami, closer than any other island in the Bahamas. On a chart the run looks short, but it means crossing the Gulf Stream, a strong current that can turn rough when the wind blows against it. That is why we usually plan Bimini by yacht as an overnight or multi-day trip rather than a there-and-back day.
On a term charter, the yacht leaves Miami with your group aboard, crosses when the captain judges the weather is right, and clears customs on arrival with the crew or agent coordinating. The 88-foot Princess is priced per day starting from a single 24-hour charter, and Cloud 9 and Sirena 88 are available on a daily term rate.
For a single day, the faster route is by air. Altrove Jets, our sister brand, arranges a dedicated Miami–Bahamas seaplane for up to 8 passengers, and the flight to Bimini takes under an hour. That leaves time for the beaches and the water before flying back, on a schedule we confirm with you when the flight is booked.
Why Bimini works
Closest Bahamas island
About 50 nautical miles from Miami, Bimini is the shortest crossing into the Bahamas and a natural first stop on longer trips.
Gulf Stream crossing
The crossing is weather-dependent. The captain watches the forecast and chooses the departure, which is why overnight plans work best by yacht.
Seaplane in under an hour
Up to 8 guests fly from Miami with Altrove Jets, the better choice when you want Bimini for a day without the crossing.
Clear, shallow water
Bimini's clear water and sandy beaches suit swimming, snorkeling and the yacht's water toys, at spots the captain chooses for the conditions.
Passports and customs
Every guest needs a passport. The crew or agent coordinates customs clearance on arrival by yacht, and we explain the seaplane arrival process when booking.
A step further
With more days, a term charter can continue from Bimini toward Nassau and the islands beyond, as time and weather allow.

Day 3

How far is Bimini from Miami?
Bimini is about 50 nautical miles from Miami, the closest of the Bahamas islands. By yacht, crossing time depends on the yacht and on sea conditions in the Gulf Stream. By seaplane with Altrove Jets, the flight is under an hour. Your advisor confirms timing for your date either way.
Can I do a day trip to Bimini by yacht?
It is possible on paper, but we rarely recommend it. A round trip means crossing the Gulf Stream twice in one day, plus customs on arrival, which leaves little time on the island and depends on calm weather. For a single day the seaplane is the better choice; by yacht, plan at least one night.
How much does a Bimini yacht charter cost?
Bimini trips are priced per day as term charters. On the Princess 88, a single 24-hour day is $12,000, and the daily rate drops to $11,000 for 3 to 5 days. A 10% gratuity and a 35% APA are added. Cloud 9 and Sirena 88 are $16,000 per day plus 35% APA, all itemized in your quote.
Do I need a passport to go to Bimini?
Yes. Bimini is part of the Bahamas, so every guest needs a valid passport, including on a day trip by seaplane. The crew or agent coordinates customs clearance when you arrive by yacht, and we explain the arrival process for the seaplane when we confirm your flight. Check entry requirements for your nationality before you travel.
Can we take the seaplane one way and the yacht the other?
Often, yes. One option is for the yacht to cross with part of the group and the luggage while others fly over on the seaplane and join on arrival. The reverse works for the return. It depends on yacht and seaplane availability for your dates, which we check together before quoting.
What if the weather is wrong for the crossing?
The captain decides whether and when to cross. If the Gulf Stream is rough, the departure can move to a calmer window, and on a multi-day plan that usually costs hours rather than the trip. If the delay runs longer, we go through the options with you, including the seaplane.
